Hello Bloomington community members, colleagues, and friends—

I write to invite you all to attend a community vigil in honor of slain
English professor Don Belton, to be held on Friday Jan 1st (New Year’s
Day), from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the southeast corner of the courthouse
square, across from the Trojan Horse.

We will be gathering together for two important purposes. Members of
the academic community and wider community will gather to acknowledge
and honor a dear friend, colleague, mentor, and teacher. But we will
also hope at this time to demonstrate to the media that Don was an
important and valued member of the wider Bloomington community. For
this reason, all media outlets will be notified and invited to cover
the event. I urge you all to spread the news of this vigil widely and
to anyone who might want to participate.

Dress warmly. We will provide candles for this evening event, but you
are welcome to bring your own.
