Family Values Are Our Values: The Gay & Lesbian Community Talks

Please join us for the seventh Sam H. Jones Creating Greater Awareness Forum, Family Values Are Our Values: The Gay and Lesbian Community Talks, presented by Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) in partnership with Indiana Youth Group, the Indianapolis Chapter of Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) and Dow AgroSciences.

When: Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Program: 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Networking Reception: 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Where: St. Luke’s United Methodist Church (Fellowship Hall), 100 W. 86th St. , Indianapolis

The forum’s purpose is to increase public knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community along with its contributions to the surrounding Indianapolis community and to further awareness of some of the complex challenges confronting LGBT individuals and families.

The April 9th Forum will present a panel comprised of five lesbian and gay families in which members will share some of their personal stories – ones that richly highlight many of the challenges faced at work, school, in the workplace and larger community.

Indianapolis has benefited from the infusion of diverse populations throughout its history. Previous forums have enlightened participants about challenges and opportunities offered by unique communities, including Asian, African, Native American, and West Indian. The April forum will do the same for the gay and lesbian community, and we will look forward to seeing you there.
