New York artist Mariette Pathy Allen is coming to the IU campus to talk about her four decades of work as a fine art photographer. Since 1978 she has been photographing individuals in the transgender community. Her books include Transformations: Crossdressers and Those Who Love Them and The Gender Frontier, which won the 2004 Lambda Literary Award in the Transgender/Genderqueer category. Her photographs are found in the permanent collections of numerous institutions, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston , the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, and The Kinsey Institute.

Mariette Pathy Allen will be showing her photographs and discussing her career in a public lecture on Monday, March 31 at 6:00 pm, in Ernie Pyle Hall 220 on the Indiana University campus. A reception will follow the lecture.
