It is time for the Community AIDS Action Group's annual call-out meeting for volunteers to assist with our annual World AIDS Day Celebration and Remembrance!

December 1, 2008 is World AIDS Day, an annual recognition around the world to bring attention to the global AIDS epidemic. The Celebration and Remembrance will be held at the Fountain Square Ballroom beginning at 5:30 p.m. to remember those we have lost to AIDS and to celebrate the progress made thus far in the fight against this epidemic.

"Cocktails and Candidates" at Scholar's Inn
The Indianapolis Rainbow Chamber of Commerce presents "Cocktails and Candidates," a celebration of the accomplishments of Indiana Equality on Wednesday, September 24th.

The reception will take place at Scholar's Inn, 725 Massachusetts Avenue, Indianapolis starting at 6:00 pm and recognizes the important work that Indiana Equality has done to promote equality and fairness for all Hoosiers. Additionally, legislative candidates for office from the Metro area will be on hand to meet the attendees and answer questions.

The AIDS Walk & Ride is sponsored by the Indiana AIDS Fund to raise money for HIV impacted Hoosiers throughout Indiana and the agencies that serve them. These agencies provide their clients with direct care, financial assistance, housing, prevention, medications and more. All of the money raised from this event is filtered back to the community through the Indiana AIDS Fund?s Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) program, which provides essential needs out of reach for persons with AIDS, such as food, clothing, rent, utilities and medications.

Screening of "Hineini" (2005, 60 min.; dir. Irena Fayngold) in Frangipani Room, Indiana Memorial Union, IU-Bloomington campus. The inspiring story of one student's courageous fight to establish a gay-straight alliance at a Jewish high school in the Boston area and the transformative impact on her entire community.

A panel discussion will follow the screening.

Bloomington PFLAG, Bloomington Beacon, Indiana Equality Region 9, bloomingOUT at WFHB-FM, Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance, and the Rainbow Rights Task Force of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington are co-sponsoring a reception for local candidates for: county commissioner, circuit court judge, and school board.

The reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, 2120 N. Fee Lane (corner of 46-Bypass and Fee Lane).

Results of candidate surveys will be available at the event, and refreshments will be served.

Steve Dunbar will be our host on Sunday, October 12 at his home at 1096 West Burma Road, ten miles north of Bloomington. We will begin to gather at 5:30 pm and will plan to eat around 6:00. Steve is surrounded by State Forest, and he will have a bonfire ready for us.

The trees are beginning to turn, so should have some nice colors. So come early and enjoy the drive up!

Hi everyone, the Midwest BearPack organization and the TGIF Bowlers will be hosting a Cookout and Beer Bar at Gregs (231 E. 16th St., Indianapolis) this Saturday night. The Cookout will begin around 6pm-9pm. We will be hosting the patio bar till 130am. Please stop in and meet two of your fellow organizations in our community. We will be doing pull tabs during the night also. So maybe come and get some food and take a chance on meeting fellow clubs and maybe win some money with the pull tabs. Also we invite everyone to bring information about their clubs and events.

Don't forget tonight (10/20) at 7PM in Woodburn 002 (IU-Bloomington campus) is the first of two Hoosier Daddy drag king workshops. You don't need supplies yet, its purely informational!

Hoosier Daddy 2009 is scheduled to take place on Thursday November 20, 2008 at 7PM in Willkie Auditorium. The event is FREE admission, but donations will be accepted. 25% of all donations will be donated to the Middle Way House of Bloomington, chosen by Duke McAllister, current reigning Hoosier Daddy 2008. Panache School of Ballroom and Social Dance, located at 311 E Winslow Rd, hosts an 'Open Lead & Follow' group dance lesson each Monday from 9pm - 9:50pm. No partner is required. The GLBTQ community is invited to attend, along with our straight friends! Dances will change every month, and will include dances such as Swing, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, & Tango.

Lessons will be taught by owner Sandra Myers and Gay Games Bronze Medalist Tom Slater.
